Hanne Vibe School
The Hanne Vibe School is located in the Sancheba area of The Gambia. It is a small school with only 3 classrooms and approximately 70 pupils. Mrs Singateh, the head teacher, until recently was the School Monitor (equivalent to an OFSTED inspector in the UK) for the area. As many of the children cannot afford to pay school fees, she has been funding the school through her own finances. However, since retiring from the school she is unable to do this and the school is struggling for finance and resources. The school has very few resources: the classrooms need refurbishing and the broken-up floors in classrooms and the outside yard need replacing.
In February and April this year when Stourbridge College students and Ridgewood High School visited they painted and decorated both the inside and outside of the school.
Sponsor a Child Programme
To support the school Project Gambia has set up a ‘Sponsor a Child’ Programme. For £10 a month you can sponsor a child to attend the Hanne Vibe School. This £10 will pay for school fees, uniform and books. For more information about the programme or if you would like to sponsor a child please email Bev Hodt: email@example.com
We are now raising funds to replace the floor in one of the classrooms and the outside yard area. Once this is done, we will look to purchase some playground toys. If you would like to donate to this you can do so by clicking on the Give Penny link on this website or by emailing Bev Hodt: firstname.lastname@example.org
